"When the Condor and the Eagle
are seen flying together,
then there will be peace on Earth"

This is the prophecy that came out of the gathering of Native elders in South America some years back.

Of course, the condor is the sacred totemic bird of South America, and the eagle represents North America (both Mexico and the US share the symbol of an eagle on their national shield or flag).

Is this a post-Third World War scenario, where warcraft from both continents will join hands to fight a common enemy? Or is this a sign of the so-called AMERO, the continental currency which is already being planned for the South American countries by MERCOSUR - perhaps the Mercosur currency will be in use also in North American countries and will have these two birds displayed on the face of the currency?

There are many other interpretations of the prophecy. Here is one interpretation that I like:

Despite the varying terminologies, however, they have a great deal in common, and “The Prophecy of the Condor and Eagle” is typical. It states that back in the mists of history, human societies divided and took different paths: that of the condor (representing the heart, intuitive and mystical) and that of the eagle (representing the brain, rational and material). In the 1490's, the prophesy said, the two paths would converge and the eagle would drive the condor to the verge of extinction. Then, five hundred years later, in the 1990's a new epoch would begin, one in which the condor and the eagle will have the opportunity to reunite and fly together in the same sky, along the same path. If the condor and eagle accept this opportunity, they will create a most remarkable offspring, unlike any seen before.
